Sunshine Beach State High School

A Senior Secondary Visual Arts student at Sunshine Beach State High School was recently announced as one of two students in the Sunshine Coast District to have their work selected for the 2009 Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art and Design Touring Exhibition.

Eloise has been invited, as an ambassador for the Sunshine Coast region, to participate in a five-day residential workshop in Brisbane conducted by professional artists. Her artwork will be exhibited at the Qld Art Gallery early next year, and will be included in a subsequent 12 month touring exhibition of regional galleries throughout Queensland.

These awards are aimed to promote and recognise excellence in visual arts education from students in state and non-state secondary schools throughout Queensland, and are a sought-after achievement for senior visual arts students across the state.

Charlotte, Madelynn and Clare also had their work nominated to be shown at the Regional Exhibition, held at the Sunshine Coast University Gallery. To have works selected for inclusion in this exhibition is a significant achievement. The Regional Exhibition is showcasing over 50 pieces of work from students across the Sunshine Coast. Clare’s work, an animation, also has the honor of being amongst 9 pupils in this region who were short listed by the Teacher Selection Panel. Sunshine Beach SHS has achieved outstanding results to have two students achieve recognition at this level. Congratulations and sincere thanks to the Art teachers, Ms Greer Stockton, Ms Kriss Morris and Ms Laura Ellis who have worked hard with the nominated pupils, and should be commended for the high standard of work that is produced by art students at Sunshine Beach SHS.

The exhibition runs at the Sunshine Coast University Gallery until Thursday September 17, and is open from Monday - Saturday, 10am – 4pm.
